The Cats 90210 Los Angeles Cat Sitting Story
Why We Do What We Do
In the Beginning
When she was just 7-years-old, her Grandfather, Bob Watson, gave her a sweet grey tabby kitten. Rita named her “Mitsy” after her grandfather’s favorite actress, Mitsy Gaynor. Sadly, due to a family allergy, she was unable to keep her kitty.
Rita’s one-and-only Halloween costume requirement every year was that she must dress up as a cat. Her mom, Mary Reimers (who is now President of the Lancaster SC Humane Society) would create a set of cat ears and a tail and she would also sew a costume made of leopard print. Mary would lovingly paint Rita’s face with a pink nose and kitty whiskers, and off Rita would go to show of her true personality! (These days Rita dresses as “The Crazy Cat Lady” when she attends the annual Halloween Workout Party at Richard Simmons’ aerobic studio, Slimmons.)

Rita’s first requirement when she embarked on her adult life was to, at last, have a kitty of her very own share her home. Her first cat was a beautiful Calico named Inga, and a year later a long-haired grey Maine Coone named Deiter joined the family.
One day, both Rita and her husband, Jack, had to travel for their jobs. Rita found a wonderful lady who owned a company called TCO (Take Care Of), and this lady lovingly cared for Rita’s cats while she and her husband traveled. When TCO closed due to a family illness, Rita learned first-hand just how hard it is to find quality in-home care for her cats.
That’s when Rita decided to make Cat Sitting her future. She started by taking care of the pets of friends and co-workers while she still worked full-time as a computer consultant. The Pet Sitting Industry was still in it’s infancy back in 1988, so it took another 10 years before this dream truly began to take shape.
The Kat Lady, which is today known as Cats 90210 Los Angeles Cat Sitting, was the answer to many a cat-parent’s prayers, enabling them to travel for business and for pleasure without the worry and guilt of leaving behind their cherished kitties.
Rita and her staff have been caring for the cats of Beverly Hills and the Westside since 2003. They are always there for the many cats they care for, and for their humans, too. Offering much more than “just” cat care, Rita and Cats 90210 have become family to the many felines and humans who rely on them.
